Southern Illinois Energy Scholarships

Welcome

We are pleased to offer the Southern Illinois Energy Scholarships program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The program is supported through a grant from the National Science Foundation. The program is designed to recruit, retain, and graduate academically talented community college transfer students interested in an energy related career.

Our experience has told us time and time again that working together makes us stronger. Therefore, in addition to receiving financial support, our scholars are also involved in activities that promote cohort building, peer support, mentoring and professional networking. We also have curriculum that is designed to introduce students to the basics of energy as a science, as well as the complexity of energy as a grand challenge for our society.

This web site is designed to provide information to our scholars as well prospective students, professionals in the field, and the campus community. It is a work in progress as the program grows. We welcome your participation and appreciate your interest.

Sincerely,

Fran Harackiewicz, Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering
Karen Renzaglia, Professor, Plant Biology
Lizette Chevalier, Professor and Associate Provost for Academic Programs, Civil and Environmental Engineering
