Activities
SI Energy Scholars have been and still are participating in activities that aim to professionally develop them, advance their career and build a better understanding of the different aspects of energy systems. These activities include:
- Brainstorming, developing and testing of hands-on-activities that demonstrate energy conversions between different forms
- Preparing, submitting Green fund proposals that targets promoting and enriching Sustainability at SIUC campus
- Resume/CV writing workshops
- Internship/Job Career fairs both locally and nationally
- Guest speakers sessions (Faculty, Staff and Industry Personnel)
- Tours (Power plant, Solar Buildings, Solar Educational Showroom, Green Roof, Science Center)
- Senior year capstone project: Conducting an energy-related research under the supervision of a faculty (or staff) member and presenting of findings professionally both in written and orally
- Preparing and presenting informational/research posters at the SIU Undergraduate Research Forum
- Reviewing and discussing selected energy-related books
- Participate in a local solar energy course and help install solar roof-top panels on a Habitat for Humanity house
